Department of Microbiology

The dynamic and vibrant Department of Microbiology was established to inculcate research oriented learning. The undergraduate department of Microbiology was established in 1994 and postgraduate department in the year 1999. The department is ranked top among other private colleges offering Microbiology affiliated to University of Madras The course curriculum has enormous potential and vast scope and encompasses various traditional basics of Microbiology and modern microbiology. The mission of the department is to excel in all aspects of academics.

• The department is well established with highly qualified and committed faculty members who teach skills in microbiology of highest standards and bring academic excellence by constantly producing University ranks and centum results. The faculty members have an excellent record both in teaching and research.
• Over the past few years, over 30 research papers have been authored by the department faculty members and students in peer reviewed journals of international repute.
• The laboratory is equipped with latest instruments like HiMedia PCR, Hi Media CO2 incubator, ELISA Reader, Magnus Dark filed microscope, Magnus Inverted tissue culture Phase Contrast Microscope with advanced cameras, Magnus monocular microscopes, REMI Shaker incubator, UV Spectrophotometers, Colorimeters, Hot air ovens, incubators, BOD incubator, autoclave, etc.
• Research and lab work are highly precise with the use of high precision apparatus like micropipettes, high quality chemicals, and glassware.
