On this momentous occasion, marking thirty seven years since our visionary founder, Thiru. A.Μ. Paramasivanandam established this institution, today we stand tall as one of the most prestigious colleges in Chennai city. Thanks to the leadership of our former chairman Thiru. A.P. Maikandan, and Thiru. A.M. Arivudai Nambi.
This Annual Report highlights our achievements, milestones and stories of impact from the past year. We are proud to share the progress with you and look forward to continuing empowering women to become leaders and change-makers.
With due pranams to our deities, Paramananda Vinayagar and Sivananda Vinayagar with whose divine bliss, we are striving hard to provide transformative educational experience to our students, I present before you the Annual Report of this academic year.
INDUCTION PROGRAMME
The college welcomed the freshers with open arms on 5th August 2024 as part of the induction programme. The new entrants were explicitly explained the rules and regulations with a special emphasis on college’s Mission and Vision,

STUDENT COUNCIL INVESTITURE
The Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council took place on 28th August 2024. Dr. Santhosh Baboo, Principal, D.G. Vaishnav College, administered the oath of office to the newly constituted Council members. Ms. L. Kuzshal of III B.SC., Microbiology took charge as the President of the Student Council.
PATRIOTIC SENTIMENTS
The college celebrated Independence Day on 15th August 2024 and Republic day on 26th January 2025 with patriotic fervour and with true spirit of nationalism.
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
The college’s commitment to academic excellence has yielded impressive results. This year, Ms. M. Mahalakshmi, Ms. G. Vanitha, Ms. Prita Davidson, Ms. Louis M.R. Lima Mirabel, Ms. N. Malini and Ms. Lydia were awarded Doctoral Degrees. I am proud to say that Ms. V. Uma Maheswari and Ms. S. Josephine Arul Jothi have cleared the NET exam to hold the position of Assistant Professor and Pursuing Ph.D. Ms. Swarnalatha, Ms. Kayathri, Ms. Jency, Ms. Bharani have qualified NET Exam for pursuing Ph.D. I am proud to state that like every year this year also 26 students have secured top ten University Ranks at both the UG and PG levels.
As part of its commitment to providing holistic education, college organized industrial visits to renowned organizations. These visits aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application enhancing students’ understanding of real-world industry practices. Students visited places like SDSC-SHAR (ISRO), IIT – Madras, Acadicel Stem Cell Research Centre Pvt. Ltd., Vandalur, UG IV, Oferr Nallayan Spirulina Research Centre, Siruseri, Adani Port Pvt. Ltd., Katupalli.

COLLEGE FESTIVITIES
34th Graduation day was held on 5.10.2024. 32 University rank holders were honoured
by the Chief Guest Dr.K.J. Sreeram, Director, Central Leather Research Institute. 37th
Annual Sports day was held on 22.2.2025. Olympian and Arjuna awardee Mr. Devarajan was invited as the chief guest of the day.
COMMUNITY- SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
- Realising the responsibility to build a healthy society, an anti-corruption campaign led by TV personality Erode Mahesh and the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Cell Department was organised on 29.10.2024.
- A group of 25 students along with few staff members visited “Tansova Aatharavu Illam” on 7.3.2025 and distributed essential provisions and adequate supplies to meet their daily needs.
- On the occasion of International Women’s Day on 8.3.2025, VCW made a bold statement for gender equality. A vibrant 350 students and few staff members enthusiastically participated in the ‘March for Women – Walk with Family Walkathon 2025’, campaigning women’s empowerment and embracing the spirit of unity and solidarity.
- International Mother Tongue Day was celebrated enthusiastically by the staff and students of VCW by formation of the word “தமிழ்” (Tamil) on 21.02.2025
- The College conducted various wellness campaigns to create awareness among the public, where our students rallied against the use of plastics in association with Greater Chennai Corporation, Health Division on 22.03.2025.
- The college organized an awareness program on “Marine Plastic Pollution” on 30.08.2024, which highlighted the importance of addressing marine plastic pollution. Dr. Chandrasekar, Principal Scientist, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) was the resource person.
DEPARTMENTAL BUZZ
The Departments have conducted innumerable events for students to commemorate various days of significance. Apart from actively participating in many Webinars, the faculty members have attended FDP’s, presented papers, published books and have organized seminars. All the departments had Industrial Visits to various Industries to gain practical knowledge. Faculty members have published meritorious research articles and have received patents.
DEPARTMENT OF TAMIL
- Short Story Writing and Poetry Writing competitions were conducted to honour the 110th birthday of our founder Perasiriyar A.M. Paramasivanandam on 28.05.2024.
- Under the aegies of A.M. Paramasivanandam Literary Association, the Department conducted short story writing and oratorical competition on 19.12.2024.
- As part of the celebrations for International Mother Tongue Day, the Department organized a Drawing Competition on 17.02.2025.
- R. Padmini and Dr. K. Geetha were awarded the title of “Athiradi Aasukavi” by Sen Nexus Educational Institute, recognizing their excellence in Tamil literature.
- R. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. M. Arunambiga, Dr. S. Bhuvaneswari, Dr. P. Anitha, Dr. R. Tamilselvi and Dr. B. Uma Sankari have published research articles in international journals contributing to the global academic community.
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
· The Department conducted essay writing competition on the topic “Drug Abuse and its Impact on Younger Generation and Oratorical Competition on the topic “Drug Abuse A Menace to Society” on 26.06.2024 on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse.
· Dr. T.V.S. Padmaja and Dr. Uma Rajmohan co-authored 3 books in January 2025.
· Dr. Uma Rajmohan, Ms. Shalini Selvaraj, Dr. R.P. Jeswill, Ms. A. Usha Martin, Ms. B. Praveena, Ms. W. Nancy Hepzhibah and Ms. B. Janani participated in International webinars and FDPs.
· Ms. Usha Martin, Ms. Sumanlatha and Ms. Ranjith Kumari did a course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language / Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TEFL/TESOL).
DEPARTMENT OF HINDI
Dr. Ranjit Bhaarati attended a one day international seminar and national seminar conducted by Loyola College on 14.8.2024.
DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS
· The Department conducted a workshop on Statistical Package for the Social Sciences on 28.01.2025. The Resource Persons were Dr.A.Parimala and Ms.R.Iswarya, Assistant Professors, Department of Statistics, Hindu College, Pattabiram.
· Ms.D.Rajalakshmi and Ms. K.R. Sanghavi attended four online national level workshops organized by A.C.T.Academy, Theivanai Ammal College for Women, Villupuram, Sir Theagaraya College and M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women.
DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
- The Department organized a one-day hands on training workshop on “Wheat Grass Production” on 20.07.2024 in association with Dr.U.K. Institute of Health Sciences and Research.
- B. Thiripurasundari has published 6 research papers, Ms.L. Kanchana has published 2 research papers, Ms. A. Sheela has published 2 research papers, Dr. G. Gomathy has published 4 Research papers, Ms R. Revathy Nayagam has published 1 research paper, Dr. S. Geetha has published 1 research paper and Dr. T. Lalithasree has published 2 Research Papers in Peer reviewed national and international journals.
- L.Kanchana, Ms A.Sheela, Dr.G.Gomathy and Dr S.Geetha have contributed two chapters in the book entitled “Innovating Tomorrow: Biotechnology and Bioscience Role in Shaping the Future”
- R.Thamarai Selvi, Ms.R. Revathy Nayagam and Dr.T. Lalithasree have contributed one chapter in the book titled “Extremophile microbes and bio prospecting: Unlocking Novel Antibiotics and Industrial Biocatalysts”.
DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY
- The Department organized a one-day intercollegiate seminar cum competition MICROCOSM 2024 for UG students on 27.9.2024. Students from 21 colleges in Chennai participated in the event. On the occasion, Dr.V. Naveen Kumar, Director, Immugenix Biosciences gave the Key Note address on “Career opportunities in Microbiology”.
- The Department inaugurated The Microbiology Journal Club on 20.07.2024 to discuss and critically evaluate recent articles or research papers on a specific topic or field of study.
- The Department in association with Medox Biotech India Private Limited organized a one day workshop on ELISA Technique for PG students on 4.2.2025.
- The Department celebrated National Science Day on 28.2.2025 and organized various Interdepartmental competitions.
- C. Soundhari has published 5 Research papers, Ms.J. Sangeethalakshmi has published 2 papers, Ms.N.Gomathi has published 3 papers and Ms. K. Nithya has published one paper in peer reviewed, Web of Science Journals.
DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
- The Department organized a seminar on “Application of Biotechnology in Current Scenario” on 24.7.2024.
- The Department organized a one-day workshop on “Pharmacogenomics” on 18.9. 2024. Dr. B. Usha, Founder and President of PCOS Research Foundation was the resource person of the Event.
- K. Sowparthani has published 1 research paper and Dr. R. Sumathy has Published 3 research Papers in Scopus Indexed Journals. Ms. S. Sangeetha has published 1 Research paper in peer reviewed Journal.
- K.Sowparthani, Dr.D.Sumalatha,. Ms. S.Sangeetha, Ms. L.Divyalashmi and Dr.P.Suguna have presented papers in International Conference organized by Shrimati Indira Gandhi College, Trichy on 27.09.2024.
- R. Sumathy did NPTEL online certification course on Biomedical Nanotechnology.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
· The Department under the auspices of IQAC, organized a one-day workshop on 12.08.2024, “Fundamentals of Deep Learning”. The workshop was conducted by Dr. S. Ramasamy, Professor, King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia.
· The Department organized a one-day technical session on “Web Technology” on 27.8.2024.
· The Department also organized a week long “RAM-a-thon” (Online Technical Quiz) and “Vibe ‘n’ Vison” (Digital Poster Designing) on account of “World Computer Literacy Day”, for the +2 Students.
· Ms. M. Sivapriya, Ms. J. Chinnakamma Devi, Ms. S. Josephine Arul Jothi, Ms. M. Girija, Ms. L. Elamathi, Ms. V. Uma Maheswari have participated in FDPs conducted by Kalasalingam Academy Research and Education, Mar Gregorios Arts & Science College, St. Joseph College of Arts & Science, CMR University Bengaluru, Sri Balaji Arts & Science College.
· Ms. S. Josephine Arul Jothi successfully attended the Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Internet of Things” organized by NPTEL-AICTE, Government of India.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
- The department organized a one day technical session on the topic “Bridge of Creativity in Multimedia Technology” on 24.09.2024. Mr. Aravind Sudevan, Graphic and 3D Designer, Image Creative Education acted as resource person.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE WITH DATA SCIENCE
· The department organized a workshop on “Robotics Process Automation” on 31.08.2024. The resource person Mr. J. Selva Ganesh, Apex Seeker EdTech Pvt Ltd had explained about Robotics Process Automation with hands-on experience using UiPath.
· Ms. V. Shobana Williams did NPTEL FDP Course on Advanced R Programming for Data Analytics in Business.
· Ms. V. Shobana Williams and Ms. S. Hemalatha participated in Faculty Development Programme on Critical and Creative Thinking Skills organized by Michael Job Memorial College of Education for Women, Coimbatore.
DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES
- Department of Humanities organized a seminar on “Issues and challenges in E-Commerce” on 12.9.2024, Mr. S. Balaji, Director-Technology, Capgemini was the resource person.
- Department of Humanities conducted a session on “Career guidance on Professional Courses” on 30.9.2024. Mr. S. Rajan, Chartered Accountant, Founder and CEO, Aspire Academy was the resource person.
- S. Anitha, Dr. M. Mahalakshmi, Ms. D. Sakthi of Commerce (General) and Dr. K. Devika, Dr. Nijina Jose, Ms. V. M. Sajitha & Ms. P. Rekha of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) participated in a Seven Day International Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Recent Advances in Teaching and Research on Sustainable Development in Commerce” conducted by School of Commerce, Vel Tech College, from 11.12.2024 to 17.12.2024.
- J.K. Kalpana Devi of Bank Management and Ms. S. Leelavathi of Commerce (CA) co-authored a book titled “Management Accounting”.
- Prita Davidson of Commerce (ISM) and Ms. K. Vanitha of Commerce (MM) published a book titled “Banking Theory Law and Practice”.
- N. Sathya of Bank Management and Ms. M. Shobana of Business Administration, participated in a five day National Virtual FDP on Research Methodology at St. Joseph’s College of Arts & Science from 19.08.2024 to 23.08.2024.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (GENERAL)
Dr. S. Anitha, Dr. M. Mahalakshmi and Ms. M. Geetha co-authored a book titled “Logistics and Supply Chain Management,”.
· Dr. G. Vanitha and Ms. T.R. Vijayalakshmi co-authored a book titled “E-Commerce”.
DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATE SECRETARYSHIP
The Department organized “Corporate Fest 2K25” on 4.1.2025. Ms. C.S. Divya Mohan, Women Independent Director, Fly SBS Pvt., addressed the students and highlighted the future career prospects in B.Com Corporate Secretaryship.
DEPARTMENT OF BANK MANAGEMENT
- The Department hosted a captivating event, “Currency Quest 2025: Rise of Money from Stones to Smart Phones.”
- J.K. Kalpana Devi co-authored a book titled “International Banking and FOREX Management” and published Research articles in International Journals.
- R. Maheswari and Ms. N. Sathya have presented papers in national and international seminars conducted at SA College of Arts and Science, University of Madras & Stella Maris College.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
- S. Leelavathi, published an article “The Effect of Influence Marketing on the Buying Behavior of Young Consumers” in the NIU International Journal of Human Rights with UGC Care Group 1.
- S. Leelavathi, Ms. Kavitha Gopinath and Ms. P.M. Aishwarya published articles in International Journals with UGC Care I.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (ACCOUNTING & FINANCE)
- The department conducted a Portfolio Management activity on the Topic “Stop Doubting Yourself, Trade with Confidence” on 22.08.2024 which helped the students to document their skills and achievements.
- K. Devika, Dr. Nijina Jose, Ms. V. M. Sajitha & Ms. P. Rekha participated in FDPs and international workshops organized by Mar Gregorios College of Arts & Science and Knowledge research Academy respectively.
- K. Devika and Dr. Nijina Jose published research papers in international journal and UGC Care Journals.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (MARKETING MANAGEMENT)
The department conducted various activities like Digital Marketing, Market Maverick and Canva – Logo Creation. Students enthusiastically participated in all the activities.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT)
The department conducted various activities like talent shows, video presentation on the occasion of Madras Day, brand launch and application development to give an exposure to students about latest trends and technologies.
DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
- V. Nithyapriyadharshini, Ms. M. Shobana attended International Faculty Development Programme organized by SRM Institute of Science & Technology and Star International Foundation for Research and Education.
- M. Shobana, published a research paper on “A Study on the Challenges of Quality of Work Life of Moonlighting Women Healthcare Professionals in Chennai” in UGC Care Journal.
- M. Shobana, Dr. A. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. P. Menaka, Ms. G. Menaka Devi, Ms. S. Swarnalatha and Ms. Chelamcherla Lavanya participated in various National and International FDP’s organized by various reputed institutes.
- S. Swarnalatha published a research paper on “A Study on the Integration and Implications of Cloud Technology in HR” in Guru Nanak Journal of Multidisciplinary Research.
- The Department organized a two day workshop on SPSS for MBA students on 24th and 25th of March 2025.
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
- Ms Prasanna Muraleedharan Published articles in 3 international journals.
- The Department addressed Commerce stream students of various schools on Career Opportunities for Economics Graduates.
- The Department organised “Know Your Economy Test” initiated by Scientific Research Association for Economics & Finance.
DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY
- On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, the department organized an Expert Talk on “Suicide Awareness and Prevention” on 04.09.2024.
- The Department also organized a seminar on “Psychiatry Nutrition” by VLCC Institute of Beauty and Wellness on 23.09.2024 Ms. T. Mary Celin, Consultant Dietician and Therapeutic Nutritionist was the speaker.
EXTENSION SERVICE UNITS
NSS
NSS Units organized several events and activities during the year. Some of the events include:
· International Yoga Day was held on 21.06. 2024, which emphasized the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being.
· Anti-Drug Awareness Pledge event was held on 26.06.2024, which aimed to educate students about the dangers of drug use and abuse.
· NSS Volunteers visited old age home “Tansova” Orphanage on 3.1.2025 and donated essential commodities.
· NSS Unit in association with K4 police station organized a rally on account of National Road Safety on 25.1.2025.
· As a part of initiative of Dream Kalam and NSS wing – University of Madras 2 lakh signatures campaign, the volunteers collected signatures from all students and staff on 9.1.2025.
· The Unit organized Stress Management Awareness Program on 5.3.2025. Ms. Aiswarya Gopinath, Senior Psychologist from Vijaya Group of Hospitals addressed the students.
YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT
The members of the club participated in the 75th National Constitution Day celebrations held on 26.11.2024.
ECO CLUB
The club organized many events like :
- Sapling plantation drive was conducted on 30.08. 2024, which aimed to enhance the greenery within the college campus.
- Interdepartmental event – Design a cover page was conducted on 10.2.2025.
- Seminar on “The Power of an Individual” was held on 7.3.2025. Mr. Aritharan Kubendran, Associate Director, Thuvakkam gave a motivational address.
RED RIBBON CLUB
Red Ribbon Club organized an awareness program on “Menstrual Health and Hygiene” on 02.09.2024. The program aimed to educate students on maintaining hygiene and managing menstrual pain.
PLACEMENT
The Recruitment Drive has been a testament to our commitment to excellence with numerous reputed companies recruiting our talented graduates. We believe that academic excellence alone is not enough to thrive in today’s dynamic job market. Seminars and Skill Development programs were conducted by reputed companies like Rubicon Skill Development PVT Ltd, Career School HR Solutions, TK Technologies, Be Positive Training Academy, New Camp IAS Academy, Anew, Y connect, Prospiders, Qspiders which helped students gain valuable experience and confidence, making them better prepared for their future careers.
During this placement season, our college hosted two consecutive job fairs in collaboration with Naandi Foundation -Titan LeAp and Magic Bus – Reliance Foundation on 7th and 25th of February 2025. The students were provided with excellent opportunities to explore career options, connecting with more than 30 potential employers like Access Healthcare, HDB Financial Services, Vertex Solutions (cognizant) Medusind Solutions, Brand4Brands, Jana Bank, Tech India Infoway, R1 RCM, Nittany, Shriram Fortune Solutions, Spectrum Talent Developers Pvt Ltd, Armsoft Technologies Pvt Ltd, Skill Plan Consultant, Nava Yuga, Amura Health, Quesscorp, Paramount Bay Services, CIEL, VIZZA Insurance, Muthoot Finance, V4U Solutions, Money Plus and so on. More than 800 students from various disciplines attended the recruitment drives securing successful placements and we have 512 offer letters in hand and are awaiting the results of nearly 266 shortlisted candidates from companies like Deloitte, HCL, Cognizant, ZOHO, WIPRO, Congruent Solutions Pvt Ltd and TCS-IT.
CONCLUSION
As we celebrate this milestone, I acknowledge the tireless efforts of our teaching and non-teaching staff, who have worked diligently to provide our students with a world-class education. I extend my sincere gratitude to our management for their never-ending support. I also appreciate the unwavering support of our parents, who have entrusted us with the responsibility of shaping the minds of their children.
I appreciate the hard work and dedication of our students, whose achievements are a reflection of institution’s commitment to excellence.
