Preethi, Chairman, Valliammal College for Women; Mr. Nitin Nambi, Correspondent, Valliammal College for Women; Dr. Amudha Valli, Principal, Valliammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School; Ms. Praveena, Principal, Valliammal Nursery and Primary School, Mogappair; learned faculty members, respected parents, representatives of the media, invited guests and my dear students, with immense pleasure and sincere gratitude, I extend a warm welcome to each one of you to the 38th Annual Day Celebration of this esteemed institution. Thirty-eight years reflect the enduring legacy of our revered Founder, Thiru A.M. Paramasivanandam, whose visionary ideals shaped the institution committed to empowering young women through education founded on values, discipline, and excellence.

We gratefully acknowledge the inspiring leadership of our former Chairmans, Thiru A.P. Maikandan, and Thiru A.M. Arivudai Nambi, whose guidance has strengthened the pillars of this institution and upheld its legacy with pride.

With due pranams to our deities, Paramananda Vinayagar and Sivananda Vinayagar with whose divine bliss, we are striving hard to provide transformative educational experience to our students, I present before you the Annual Report of this academic year 2025-2026.

INDUCTION PROGRAMME

The commencement of the academic year was marked by the Induction Programme held on 2nd July 2025, extending a cordial welcome to the first-year students. The programme served as an orientation to introduce them to the academic structure, institutional policies, and the code of discipline upheld by the college.

STUDENT COUNCIL INVESTITURE

The Investiture Ceremony of the Student Council was conducted on 13th August 2025 with dignity and solemnity. Mr. E. Logamani, District Educational Officer (Retd), Government of Tamil Nadu, administered the oath of office to the newly elected council members. Ms. S. Lakshana of III B.Com (ISM) assumed office as the President of the Student Council.

PATRIOTIC SENTIMENTS

The college commemorated Independence Day on 15th August 2025 and Republic Day on 26th January 2026 with great patriotic fervour and national spirit. The celebrations served as a reminder of our rich heritage and reinforced among students a sense of responsibility, unity, and commitment towards the nation.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The college continues to foster a vibrant research culture, encouraging faculty members to pursue scholarly advancement and higher studies. Ms. B. Thiripurasundari, Ms. A. Sheela, Ms. V. Uma Maheswari, Ms. Shobana William, and Ms. S. Leelavathi were conferred Doctoral Degrees in recognition of their academic excellence and research contributions. Their accomplishment brings great pride to the institution and further strengthens our commitment to research-oriented academic growth

Dr. B. Thiripurasundari, Dr. C. Soundhari and Dr. K. Sowparthani were nominated as Members of the Board of Studies, University of Madras.

The institution takes immense pride in the significant contributions made by the faculty members in the field of innovation and intellectual property. This year, Thirty-five faculty members were granted patents for their innovations/designs by the Patent Office, Government of India. Ms. L. Kanchana, Dr. A. Sheela, Dr. G. Gomathy, Dr. R. Ms. K. Priya, Ms. S. Santhi, Ms. D. Bharani, and Ms. A. Sathiya have qualified the Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (TNSET) for holding the post of Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Applications, while Ms. V. Shyamala qualified TNSET in Commerce.

COLLEGE FESTIVITIES
  • The College celebrated various regional festivals, including Onam, Ayudha Pooja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Diwali, Pongal, and Holi, in an eco-friendly manner, reflecting great enthusiasm and cultural harmony.
  • The College organized ‘Pratibha’ – Talent Search on 20.09.2025 and ‘Tarang’ – Inter-Departmental Cultural Fest on 18.03.2026 to provide a platform for young women to showcase their hidden talents.
COMMUNITY- SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • An Anti-drug Human Chain Programme was held on 12.08.2025 to create awareness on building a drug-free society.
  • A Plastic-Free Rally was undertaken on 03.10.2025 to promote environmental awareness among the public.
  • College students actively participated in the Voters Awareness Walkathon on 09.02.2026, thereby highlighting the importance of civic responsibility and voting rights.
  • An awareness programme on Addiction Prevention on 01.08.2025 effectively promoted value-based living and social responsibility among students.
  • International Mother Language Day was commemorated by the staff and students of VCW on 21.02.2026 through the formation of the word “தமிழ்” (Tamil), celebrating linguistic pride and cultural identity.
DEPARTMENTAL BUZZ

The Departments have conducted innumerable events for students to commemorate various days of significance. Apart from actively participating in many Webinars, the faculty members have attended FDP’s, presented papers, published books and have organized seminars. All the departments had Industrial Visits to various Industries to gain practical knowledge. Faculty members have published meritorious research articles and have received patents. 

DEPARTMENT OF TAMIL
  • The Department organized an elocution competition on 05.07.2025 to mark the 111th birth anniversary of the Founder, Professor A. M. Paramasivanandam. A seminar on Tamil culture and heritage was conducted on 11.08.2025. Literary competitions, including short story writing, elocution, and singing, were conducted under A. Mu. Pa. Ilakiya Peravai on 30.01.2026 and 09.02.2026.
  • Dr. R. Padmini, Dr. K. Geetha, Dr. R. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. M. Arunambiga, Dr. S. Bhuvaneswari, Dr. R. Tamilselvi, Dr. B. Uma Sankari, and Dr. R. M. Kannammai published research articles in international journals. Dr. R. Padmini and Dr. R. Tamilselvi published books, while Dr. K. Geetha contributed a book chapter. Faculty actively participated in webinars, seminars, workshops, and Faculty Development Programmes.
DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH
  •      The Department inaugurated English Literary Club, Lit Luminous Literary Association, on 28.07.2025. An Essay Writing Competition was conducted on 04.08.2025, followed by a webinar on 07.10.2025 and interdepartmental competitions on 10.02.2026, providing a platform for students to enhance their literary, communication and creative skills.
  • Dr. T. V. S. Padmaja, Dr. R. P. Jeswill, Ms. W. Nancy Hephzibah, and Ms. P. Ranjith Kumari published research articles in reputed journals. Ms. B. Janani and Dr. M. Lydia contributed book chapters, and Dr. M. Lydia served as a resource person in an online workshop. Dr. R. P. Jeswill completed the International TESOL/TEFL Certification Programme. Faculty members actively participated in FDPs, workshops, and webinars.
DEPARTMENT OF HINDI
    The Department organized a storytelling event on 06.08.2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Munshi Premchand and conducted literary activities on 15.09.2025 to mark National Hindi Day. Dr. Ranjita Bharti presented a paper in an international seminar and published two research articles in an international journal.
DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY
  • The Department organized a workshop on “Basic Haematology Techniques and Phlebotomy” on 02.08.2025, A seminar on entrepreneurship on 26.09.2025, and a five-day International FDP on “Recent Trends in Life Sciences” from 06.10.2025 to 10.10.2025.
  • Dr. B. Thiripurasundari published three research articles, contributed two book chapters, and edited a book. Ms. L. Kanchana published one research article, co-authored a book, obtained a patent along with Dr. A. Sheela and Dr. G. Gomathy, and completed an NPTEL course. Dr. A. Sheela published one research article, while Dr. G. Gomathy published four research articles. Ms. R. Thamaraiselvi and Ms. R. Revathi Nayagam each published one research article and contributed a book chapter.
DEPARTMENT OF MICROBIOLOGY
  • The Department organized a one-day International Seminar on Food Safety: Microbiology in Action” on 27.06.2025. A workshop on Restriction Mapping” was conducted on 12.08.2025, and the Microbiology Journal Club was inaugurated on 21.08.2025. MICROCOSM 2025, an intercollegiate seminar-cum-competition, was organized on 24.09.2025, providing a platform for academic exchange and student participation. A five-day International Faculty Development Programme on “Economic impact of Antimicrobial resistance in Humans” was conducted from 06.10.2025 to 10.10.2025.
  • Dr. C. Soundhari published two research articles and contributed one book chapter. Ms. N. Gomathi published two research articles, while Ms. A. Pushparani and Dr. Louis M. R. Lima Mirabel each published one research article.
DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY
  • The Department organized a workshop on “Bio-Methodology of Laboratory Animals” on 13.08.2025 and a National Conference on “Innovations in Cancer Biology” on 29.09.2025.
  • Dr. K. Sowparthani published two research articles and contributed three book chapters. Dr. D. Sumalatha published two research articles, edited a book, and contributed two book chapters. Ms. S. Ezhil Malar, Ms. S. Sangeetha, Ms. L. Divyalashmi, and Dr. P. Suguna contributed book chapters. Ms. S. Sangeetha also completed a certification programme in DNA Sequence Analysis. Dr. R. Sumathy published one research article, and Dr. K. Jayanthi presented three research papers.
  • Faculty members of the Department of Life Sciences presented research papers in National and International Conferences, and actively participated in Faculty Development Programmes and seminars.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE
  • The Department inaugurated Computer Science Club “Technofrenzy 2025” on 31.07.2025. A five-day International Online Faculty Development Programme was conducted from 28.08.2025 to 02.09.2025
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
  • The Department organized a seminar on “Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence” on 26.09.2025. Ms. D. Suganya published a book titled Natural Language Processing. Faculty members presented research papers and actively participated in FDPs on emerging technologies.
DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE WITH DATA SCIENCE
  • The Department organized an International Seminar on 30.07.2025 and conducted inter-departmental competitions Intra Blaze” on 03.09.2025, to enhance analytical and problem-solving skills. Ms. P. Maheswari published one research article and received Elite Grade certification through SWAYAM-NPTEL.
  • Faculty members of the Department of Computer Science, Data Science and Computer Applications presented research papers and participated in Faculty Development Programmes, International webinars and workshops, enhancing their academic competencies.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (GENERAL)
  • The Department organized a seminar on “The Ultimate Investment Strategies for Beginners” on 20.08.2025.
  • Dr. S. Anitha and Dr. G. Vanitha each published two research articles. Dr. M. Mahalakshmi, Ms. S. Kaleeswari, Ms. T. R. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. M. Geetha, Ms. R. Kavitha, Ms. R. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. D. Sakthi, Ms. H. Rathika, and Ms. V. Shyamala each published one research article in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. S. Anitha authored a book titled Entrepreneurial Development
  • Dr. S. Anitha, Dr. G. Vanitha, Ms. S. Kaleeswari, Ms. T. R. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. R. Kavitha, Ms. R. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. H. Rathika, and Ms. V. Shyamala contributed chapters in edited volume.

  • Ms.R. Kavitha, Ms.R.Vijayalakshmi and Ms. H. Rathika completed NPTEL certifications.

DEPARTMENT OF CORPORATE SECRETARYSHIP
  • The Department organized a seminar on “Modern Business and Corporate Social Responsibility” on 12.08.2025.
  • Dr. N. Malini published one research article and authored a book Financial Derivatives and Risk Management. Ms. M. Dhanalakshmi and Ms. Chelamcherla Lavanya published research articles, and Ms. Chelamcherla Lavanya also authored the book “Cost Accounting”.
DEPARTMENT OF BANK MANAGEMENT
  • The Department organized a seminar on “Emerging Trends in Fintech” on 19.10.2025. Dr. J. K. Kalpana Devi contributed a chapter in the book “Intelligent Motion control for Human centered systems.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
  • The Department organized a seminar on “Role of AI in Risk Management in Banking Sector” on 14.08.2025. Dr. S. Leelavathi, Ms. Kavitha Gopinath, Ms. P. M. Aishwarya, and Dr. R. Divya published research articles and co-authored the book “Principles and Practices of Management”.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (ACCOUNTING & FINANCE)
  • Dr. K. Devika, Dr. Nijina Jose, Ms. V. M. Sajitha, and Ms. P. Rekha each published six research articles and co-authored the book “International Trade”.

DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (MARKETING MANAGEMENT)
  • The Department organized Market Maverick” on 29.01.2026. Ms. K. Vanitha published one research article and co-authored the book Digital Marketing with Ms. P. Nirmala.
DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE (INFORMATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT)
  • Dr. Prita Davidson published the book “Auditing and Corporate Governance” and contributed a book chapter, and co-authored the book “Business Law” with Ms. K. B. Aishwarya.
  • Faculty members from the various streams of Commerce have presented papers at national and international conferences and actively participated in Faculty Development Programmes, seminars, and workshops.
DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
  • Ms. S. Swarnalatha published Financial Markets and Investment Strategies. Faculty members including Dr.V. Nithyapriyadharshini, Ms. M. Shobana, Dr. a. Vijayalakshmi, Ms. G. Menaka Devi, Ms. S. Swarnaltha and Ms. R. Rajeshwari presented papers and participated in conferences, workshop, seminars and FDPs.

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
  • The Department organized a seminar on 21.08.2025 and a poster presentation on 21.01.2026. Ms. Prasanna Muraleedharan and Dr. N. Geetha published research articles in reputed journal

DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY

  • The Department organized a seminar on “Psychology Career Compass” on 11.08.2025, Ms.G. Neeraja, Counselling Psychologist delivered a lecture on Career opportunities in Psychology.
EXTENSION SERVICE UNITS
NSS
  • The NSS Unit organized International Yoga Day on 21.06.2025. Awareness programmes on women’s safety on 25.07.2025, anti-drug initiatives on 12.08.2025, and first-aid awareness on 28.08.2025 were conducted.
  • An oratorical competition was conducted on 29.08.2025, followed by the celebration of Daan Utsav on 10.09.2025 and an Orientation Programme on 11.09.2025 to encourage student participation in community service. The Unit also organized a Plastic-Free Rally on 03.10.2025 and a Mental Health Awareness Programme on 16.10.2025.
  • Further programmes on health awareness on 09.01.2026 and 06.02.2026, the impact of social media on young women on 28.01.2026 were conducted.
YOUTH RED CROSS UNIT
  • The Youth Red Cross Unit conducted an awareness programme on “Addiction Prevention” and organized activities promoting values and social responsibility. Volunteers also participated in intercollegiate competitions during the 75th Geneva Convention programme and secured several prizes.

ECO CLUB
  • The Club organised an Eco-Friendly Ganesha Exhibit on 26.08.2025, promoting sustainable practices. The Club also conducted an awareness programme on menstrual health on 05.02.2026.
RED RIBBON CLUB
  • The Red Ribbon Club organized an awareness programme on yoga, hygiene, and menstrual health on 18.08.2025, promoting healthy lifestyle practices among students.

INSTITUTION’S INNOVATION COUNCIL (IIC)
  • The Council organised an AI Model Exhibition on 23.01.2026 showcasing innovative AI working models by students.
  • An interactive programme, “Road to Entrepreneurship”, was conducted on 03.02.2026 in collaboration with The Times of India, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking among students.
  • The Council also organised Nextgen AI Expo’26 on 06.02.2026, where students demonstrated a wide range of AI-based models.
ENTREPRENEUR DEVELOPMENT CELL (ED CELL)
  • The Cell organised SRUJANA 2026 on 31.01.2026, an entrepreneurial bazaar encouraging students to showcase innovative products and business ideas. The event fostered creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit among students.
GREEN ENVIRONMENT CLUB
  • The Club organised Reverdure 2026 on 04.02.2026, focusing on pollution control and environmental awareness. The event encouraged students to creatively express the importance of environmental conservation.
ANTI-DRUG CLUB
  • The Club conducted awareness activities, including pledge-taking on 26.06.2025 and 11.08.2025, along with pamphleteering on 31.07.2025. The club has also organised competitions on 25.08.2025 and 24.09.2025, a rally on 26.09.2025, and a seminar on 30.09.2025 to educate students on the harmful effects of drug abuse.
YOUTH AMBASSADOR CLUB
  • The Club organised a programme on values for the younger generation on 13.08.2025. It also conducted a seminar on youth empowerment on 04.02.2026, inspiring students with ethical and motivational insights.
ROAD SAFETY CLUB
  • The Unit conducted a poster-making activity on road safety awareness on 30.01.2026. The activity promoted responsible behaviour and adherence to traffic rules among students.
PLACEMENT

The Placement Cell played a pivotal role in facilitating students’ transition from academics to professional careers by organizing training programmes, internships, and placement drives, providing skill development in IT, software development, finance, BFSI, soft skills, and aptitude, benefiting over 500 students. An online internship offered by ISKY Techies benefited 19 postgraduate students, while recruitment drives conducted by Austra Group of Companies, HDB Financial Services, ORO Money HQ, and TCS BPS resulted in 39 placements. Additionally, 204 students participated in the Titan Leap Job Utsav, gaining exposure across multiple sectors.

The institution signed MoUs with Ilakku Tech Skills Academy and BLOOMS Academy of Skill Improvement and Career Consultancy to provide certified skill-based training and preparation for competitive examinations. The Placement Cell significantly enhanced students’ employability, industry readiness, and professional confidence.

As we gather to celebrate this proud milestone, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff, whose constant support, hard work, and commitment have shaped the strength and success of this institution.

I am deeply grateful to the Management for their vision, encouragement, and unwavering support, which continue to guide us forward. I also extend my gratitude to the parents, whose confidence in us drives our commitment to shaping the future of their children. I appreciate our students, whose dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments reflect the true spirit and excellence of this institution.

As we move ahead, let us learn with passion, grow with confidence, and rise with determination, for education is not just about reaching milestones, but about transforming lives and inspiring change.

CONCLUSION

As we celebrate this milestone, I acknowledge the tireless efforts of our teaching and non-teaching staff, who have worked diligently to provide our students with a world-class education. I extend my sincere gratitude to our management for their never-ending support. I also appreciate the unwavering support of our parents, who have entrusted us with the responsibility of shaping the minds of their children.

I appreciate the hard work and dedication of our students, whose achievements are a reflection of institution’s commitment to excellence.

Let us come together to celebrate this momentous occasion, and let us continue to strive for excellence in all that we do. I conclude with the famous lines of Robert Frost
