NSS UNIT
The NSS unit of the college helps to understand the community and its needs and problems, to involve the volunteers in problem-solving and social welfare activities. It also helps to develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among the volunteers and to enhance the personal skills and competencies of the volunteers and to support customers to deliver their services more efficiently and effectively.
Activities conducted during the academic year 2023 - 2024
- The NSS Unit of our College marked the 9th International Yoga Day on 21.06.2023. NSS volunteers received training in various yoga asanas and breathing exercises. Additionally, students pledged to “Integrate and Encourage Yoga Through Life” during the event.
- On 26.06.2023, at 9:30 am, the NSS unit of our college organized a procession in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.
- The NSS Unit of our College, in collaboration with the Greater Chennai Police’s Prevention of Crime Against Women and Children Cell, organized an awareness program for first-year students on 18.07.2023.
- On 10.08.2023, our college’s NSS unit collaborated with the Greater Chennai Police to conduct a campaign focused on increasing public awareness about drug abuse.
- The NSS Unit of our College, in partnership with the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN), conducted an awareness session on organ donation for students on 11.08.2023.
- The State Level Mega programme “Drug Free Tamil Nadu” was inaugurated on 11.08.2023, with the honourable Chief Minister administering the pledge. In light of this initiative, the NSS unit of our college organized an Anti-drug Pledge, which was taken by 1500 students.
- To mark the 77th India’s Independence Day, the NSS unit of our college arranged the Tamil Oratorical Competition, titled “Mahakavi Bharathiyar and National Freedom Moments,” followed by an English Essay writing competition on 14.08.2023.
- The NSS unit of our college conducted Swachh cleaning activities within our college campus on 27.09.2023. NSS Volunteers diligently cleaned the campus and gathered single-use plastic waste.
- The NSS unit of our college, in collaboration with the MGM Cancer Institute, hosted a Breast Cancer awareness programme on 09.10.2023.
- The NSS volunteers from our college joined hands with Lions International Chennai to take part in the Chennai Plogathon on 15.10.2023. The “Walk for Trash-free Chennai” plogging event commenced at 6:00 AM at Marina Beach, with 163 students actively participating in cleaning the area.
- As a component of the Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign, our college arranged the Amrit Kalsh Yatra on 20.10.2023. Students were urged to contribute a handful of rice, which was gathered in the Amrit Kalash. Subsequently, the Amrit Kalash was entrusted to Nehru Yuva Kendra in Adyar.
